Last Week

  1. Mark Ingram
  2. Colt McCoy
  3. Tim Tebow
  4. Case Keenum
  5. Tony Gerhart
  6. Case Keenum
  7. JacQuizz Rodgers
Breakdown

  1. Mark Ingram - Leading the Crimson Tide in an undefeated regular season in the SEC. Leader of the pack. With a win and decent numbers against Auburn he will only need good numbers against Florida to clinch it. With big numbers against Auburn he could all but clinch next week.
  2. Colt McCoy - Is still in second, but the gap with he and Tebow is shrinking by the day and could disappear with a strong Tebow performance against Florida State. McCoy has really put up good numbers over the past few weeks, but they have been against vastly inferior competition this year in the Big 12. He will have to continue to put up big numbers and hope that Ingram slips and nobody does something great to catch him in the process. Not a whole lot of room to go up for him.
  3. Tim Tebow - Is starting to round out his resume again this year. With a big day against Florida State, he could pass Colt for second place. However, in the mind of most voters, he would need to have substantially passed him in order to get their votes as he already has one trophy at home. He may pass McCoy in my rankings by the end of the year, but it won't happen in actuality. It is starting to look like he won't even get an invite to the ceremony as a participant in a few weeks.
  4. Case Keenum - His numbers are just silly at QB. I'm surprised that he is not getting more talk. He plays in Conference USA but had some great out of conference victories.
  5. Tony Gerhart - His numbers are pretty darn crazy at the RB position as well. His team's four losses will put him out of contention.
  6. JacQuizz Rodgers - Very good numbers as well and one less loss than Gerhart. This one is really close and could flip flop depending on the last couple games.
  7. Kellen Moore - Really good stats, but hard to take seriously out of the WAC. Any chance that he had was ruined this week with a ho-hum game against Utah State.
Others
Jordan Shipley (WR) - Texas: Interesting idea, but with McCoy near the top of the list he'll never crack the top 5
CJ Spiller (Athlete) - Clemson: He has been the trendy pick to get into the race, but his numbers just don't compare. Who does compare to him is Dexter McCluster at Ole Miss. Similar stats, records, and teams. I'd take McCluster over Spiller here if given the choice, though.

Final Thoughts
This is Ingram's race to loose. It would be nice to finally have an Alabama player with a Heisman after all these years.
