Interesting Web Articles: 7-25-08, #10

Can Dennis Kucinich be any smaller a person or any crazier than you remember?

Well, it seemed a stretch, but today, he proved that he was up to the challenge. He walked in an article of impeachment of President George W. Bush to the House Judiciary Committee today while fellow whacko's filled the courtroom and lined the halls.

I can understand those who don't agree with many things that Bush has done and I don't know all of what he has done, so maybe there is something there somewhere that would deserve impeachment, however, nothing has come out as of yet to lead to such a step.

The committee chairman admitted that it wasn't really even an impeachment hearing since the votes needed for such had not been reached on July 15th. However, many on the committee used the day as a time to do a bit of venting about the president, however, they were restrained by rules regarding in what ways the president can be mentioned in the House.

I must agree with many of the statements from the Republicans in attendance including those of Larner Smith who dismissed the hearings as a waste of time. He also pointed out that pointless excersizes such as he had just witnessed are reasons why Congresses approval ratings are under 10%, whereas Bush's despite the venom shown are at 32%, still not in any way good, but well above those of Congress.

I did enjoy Dan Lungren of California's quote, "Maybe what we're here for is impeachment light' " -- a "never, never land" where Democrats lay out their accusations, but don't follow up on impeachment.

More to the point, Mike Prince of Indiana state, "The framers (of the Constitution) did not intend impeachment as a political device," Pence said, adding that he believed the president has "consistently put the American people's need before his own."

What a bunch of gibberish. It is time for Bush to be out of office, but lowering Congress to something like this shows how far we have gone since its creation.
