MythBusters Jaws Special

So, I had planned on doing other things tonight, but how can you turn away when presented with a night of MythBusters on Shark Week?

They started with the previously run Jaws spectacular where the following was found out.

1. Punching a shark in the nose or gills will temporarily force it to move away, but does not work as a long term detterant.

2. An adult great white shark could break through a shark cage determining on the strength of construction.

3. An adult great white shark could break through the hull of a boat the size of the one used in Jaws.

4. An adult great white shark could not pull a boat backwards fast enough to bring the back part of the boat under the water.

5. An adult great white shark could possibly pull three barrels underwater, but could not maintain them under the water for any period of time.

6. The gun used in Jaws could have shot a hole in a compressed air tank, but it would not explode, it would rocket through the area. So it would have still killed the shark, but not exploded.
